NEXT WINTER'S RUGBY FOOTBALL COMPETITIONS.
The problem of IMI football was considered by the Auckland Rugby Union laet night, when Mr. G. Orrell, deputy chairman, submitted a report embodying proposals for running next year's competitions. This included a suggestion that, at trhe end of the season, a special subsidiary competition be organised to provide games for city and country clubs while representative matches' are in progreee.
Mr. Orrell's report was received witih appreciation, and it ie to be circulated for fuller consideration.
J Arising out of a disciieeion at last week's meeting on residential qualification, X. Thornton wrote contradicting the statement that lie tad taken pjirt in competition games for the Otahuhu Club while still a playing J member of the King Country Union. Thornton said he played one game for Otahuhu in May. before taking an appointment in the King Country, and the only other game he played for Otahuhu was a friendly one against ManUkau, when Otahuhu wae short and the Manukau team agreed that he might Play.
It was decided to express regret that Thornton's position had been unintentionally misrepresented.
A letter was received from Mr. H. Strude, of Takapuna, complaining that insufficient eenior matches were played on Tahoroto Park. It was decided to inform Mr. Strude that the Takapuna Club, by next Saturday, would have eight home games out of 13. and that first division teams would appear at Takapuna during the second round.
