GIRLS PREFERRED.
HOMES FOR EVACUEES. ROTOKUA DISTRICT RESPONSE. ROTORUA, this day. Offers of home* for 75 children from Great Britain have been received from the Kotorua patriotic zone, which includes the Matamata county and borough, the l'u-taruru Town Board and the Ta'upo Road Board as well as Rotorua. These offers have been received from 00 homes. Applications have not yet closed and are still being received. In the figures given Matamata borough is not included. The number of applications from Rotorua borough is 33. One noticeable feature of the returns made by those offering homes for ''little Britons" is a preference for girk, particularly between the ages of five and sevem Foster-parents are given the opportunity to state their preference for children of a certain age, and over half the offe«s made have been for girls between five and seven years of age. Eight to 10 years is preferred ■by most of those offering homes to boys. In the other age groups the number of toys and girls' is almost equal. Only six offers have been made for the children between 14 and Iβ years. Another feature of the preferences expressed was that few foster-parents seemed concerned about the religious denomination to which the children belonged.
