WASHINGTON ?
N.Z. REPRESENTATIVE. QUESTION IN PARLIAMENT. WELLINGTON, this day. The question of the appointment of a representative of the New Zealand Government in Washington was again raised in the House of Representatives yesterday. It was the subject of an urgent question by Mr. Lee (Democratic Labour, Grey Lynn) on behalf of the member for Napier (Mr. Barnard).
The question asked the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, whether the Government, which was considering the appointment of a Minister or .representative for tKe Dominion at Washington, had come to a decision in the matter.
Mr. Lee said that the opinion had been expressed in Australia and elsewhere that the Commonwealth's appointment of Mr. R. G. Casey as Minister Plenipotentiary, in the existing situation, had. been of great benefit to Australia.
-. The question of the appointment of a New Zealand representative to Washington, said the Prime Minister in reply, was receiving ''the close and careful attention of the Government. "The matter is a very important one," he added, "and does deserve and is receiving very earnest and very close attention. ' —(Parliamentary Reporter.)
