The Admiralty list of casualties on the aircraft-carrier Glorious, is complete and shows a total of 1204 Commander G. D'Oyly Hughes was among those killed. Ratings killed number 71, and there arc 869 missing. The Royal Air Force casualties were five killed and 33 missiug. An account of the sinking of the Glorious (22,500 tons), issued by the German news agency, pay* tribute to the courageous light put up bv British warships, says the London "Daily Telegraph." The British Admiralty announced on Juno 10 that as it had "been found impossible to communicate with certain vessels, H.M.S. Glorious, the transport Orania (19,840 tons) and the tanker Oilpioneer (5060 tons) must be presumed lost, as well as the destroyers Acasta and Ardent (both 1350 tons), which accompanied the Glorious. Towards tho evening of June 8, the German account says, units of a German naval patrol in the Arctic Sea met the Glorious and the destroyers. The Glorious attempted to launch her 'planes, but the first German salvoes ; prevented this. The Glorious tried to make off. but she could not get up full speed on account of the. damage done to her. The fight continued until, according to the German eye-witnoss, "the glow of fire was to be seen in the Glorious. Slowly the giant began to turn on to her side. Pouring otit flames and smoke, she drifted with the wind. A.moment later she Sauk. '"But the last destroyer does not give up. Our guns silence her forward guus, but the after guns continue firing. Afore salvoes from our guns and the enemy is at length silenced. The destroyer is in flames and slowly begins to sink. Steam ' arises, probably through the boilers bursting. Then the waves close over these brave opponents too."
