HORSEWOMEN TO ASSIST.
NURSING DIVISION SCHEME.

An avenue by which keen horsewomen can assist the medical section of the district emergency organisation has been opened by the Gisborne Nursing Division of the St. John Ambulance Brigade with the formation of a mounted auxiliary for the conveyance of sick or wounded or the transport of mcdical supplies.
•The qualifications of those who join are that tliey must be keen horsewomen and have the use of horses suitable to undertake journeys. A training week has been arranged from August 27 t;» September 3. A course of lectures given by members of the local branch of the British Medical Association and practical work directed by members of the St. John Nursing Division will be compressed into one week. A few weeks will be given in which to digest the training and examinations to be arranged in various districts for the first aid week.
The Cook Hospital Board has placed the old St. Helens home, where the health camp has been held, at the disposal of the association. It is essential that the training with horses be very thorough, and an intensive course in this work is to be arranged during the summer. °
