CONDEMNED.

ANONYMOUS CIRCULAR. RACING CLUB ELECTION. Condemnation of what he referred to ;te "a despicable and anonymous circular" 5 which had been received by members in connection with the election of the committee was expressed by Mr. Oliver Nicholson, president of the Auckland Racing Club at the annual meeting of members which was held yesterday afternoon. "Members have received a despicable and anonymous circular in connection with th:« election."" said Mr. Nirholson. ■*I am <|uiie satisfied, however, that it did n»t emanate from any member of the Racing (lull and 1 am certain we have no member who would stoop to such questionable conduct. There is no doubt that the person who *ent it is an outsider because it has been sent to many non-members als-o."' He said that the circular, which emanated from Kotorua, attacked two members through their religion and should he resenteed by everyone present. The two men referred to had given yeoman service in all fields in the service of the people, and had always striven to advance the interests of the club. "I am certain that all those who are seeking re-election will resent the contents of this circular."' Mr. Nicholson added, "and there is no doubt that they must be absolved from any connection with it."' Mr. C. E. Major said he had no objection to a circular advocating the election of a particular member. 1 ut when a man was attacked on the grounds of racial antipathy it was time to protest strongly. There were some despicable minds in the world to conceive such a circular, and he was pleased to hear from the applause that had greeted the president's remarks that the meeting agreed that the action of the author of the circular was heartily condemned. The following officers were elected:— President, Mr. O. Nicholson, re-elected unopposed: vice-president, Dr. A. McGregor (Jrant. re-elected unopposed; committee. Messrs. M. M. Louisson. W. Claud Motion. M. M. McCalluin. H. Morpeth and F. E. McKcnzic: stewards, Commander B. L. Hewitt, Messrs. M. J.I Lynch and E. H. Nolan.
