SOVIET NAVY DAY.
Large-Scale Displays To Be Given In Every Port. FUTURE BUILDING PLAITS. (Received 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, July 28. The Moscow wireless states that large-scale naval displays worthy of Russia as a great sea Power will be staged in every Russian port in celebration of the Soviet second national Navy Day. Comprehensive exercises will be held at Vladivostock.
The Commissar for the Navy, M. KuznetzofT, stated in a broadcast address in connection with Navy Day that 129 new surface ships, large and small, were added to the navy in 193 ft. This year there would be 168 new vessels. Three times as many submarines would be coinmissioned as last year.
He said the navy must be raised to tho same level a« the army and air force by the construction of modern, first-clans ships in the shortest possible time. Seven special naval schools would be established to train personnel.
"Wβ plan to have the biggest navy in the world," said M. Kuznetzoff. "New ships are being laid down now for launching in coming years."
