HER OWN PROPERTY.

Italian women have benefited considerably by the promulgation of the new civic code. It decrees that all money earned by a woman is her private property, and offers her a voice in the administration of her own property. Formerly, a married woman could not even sign a cheque. There is no divorce, but legal separation can be obtained on various grounds, and in that case ehe can control her own property entirely. A new creation in this code is the family estate, or capital set aside for the benefit of children, which cannot be touched except with a magistrate's consent.
