Saturday's Weddings.

PERIOD GOWNS WORN.

HORROCKS— ADAMS. Period gowns were worn by both the bride, and her maids at the wedding on Saturday afternoon of Mise Shirley Adams, youngest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Adams, of Reniuera, to Mr. Peter Horrocks, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay Horrocke, of St. George's Bay Road, Parnell. The ceremony took place, at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, the Rev. P. Gladstone Hughes officiating. During the service a solo was eung by Mies Patricia Bailey. The bride made a charming picture as she came up the aisle on the arm of her brother, Lieutenant Ronald Adams. Fashioned of ivory chiffon velvet, her gown was softly ruehed in front ami formed a cowl neckline, while from a high waistline the bouffant skirt fell gracefully into a slight train. The. long veil of ivory tulle was caught to the head with a coronet of orange blossom, and was worn over the face ae the bride entered the church. She carried a bouquet of white, cyclamen and snowdrops. The bridesmaids were Mise Oleniee Adams, the bride's sister, and Miss Joan Symes, . whose period frocks were of ivory corduroy velvet, fashioned on similar lines to that of the. bride, except for full puff sleevee and Peter Pan collars. They wore true-lovers' knots of primroses on their heads and carried bouquets of daffodils and primroses. In attendance, on the bridegroom were Mr. Graeme Frater, as best man, and Sergeant R. E. Horrocks, ae groomsman. A reception, attended only by close relatives and friends, was later held at the Grand Hotel and the brides sister, Alias Ngaire Adams, received the guests. The former was wearing an ensemble of black wool georgette, , refteved with blue, and a black hat. She carried a bouquet of blue delphiniums. ijis-s Adams was in a light navy Angora suit and a petunia hat, and her bouquet was in petunia toning*. A black ensemble trimmed with Persian lamb and a black hat were worn by Mre. Ronald Adams.
