For many years Mr. Reid was in business in Hamilton, where he took a prominent part in public life. In 1929, he was elected a member of the Auckland Harbour Hoard, as representative of tho combined, boroughs of Hamilton, Cambridge, • Ngaruawahia and Te Awamutu. He was deputy-chairman in 1935 and 1936, and was again appointed deputy-chairman in 1939, holding that position until May 28 of the present year, when he was elected chairman in succession to Mr. W. B. Darlow.
