DEATH AT 83.

FORMER MAYOR OF KELSON. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NELSON, this day. The death has occurred at Nekon after a short illness of Mr. William Lock, aged S3. The late Mr. Lock was one of Nelson* most prominent citizens, and had a career of local body administrative work probably unequalled in the Dominion. He was Mayor of Nelson for eight yearn from 1919 to 1927.

Mr. Lock was born and educated at Xelson. He took a keen interest in sports, and served on many organisations, including the Nelson Education Board, Hospital Board, and Harbour Board. He was vice-president of the Municipal Association for seven years and president in 1927. He also served on the Cawthron Trust Board.
