Following on the decision of the French (iovernment to withdraw their diplomatic mission from Brita-.n. a provisional arrangement has been made whereby the French (iovernment has ap]K>inted an a«rent for the liquidation of tlie economic and commercial affairs in the United Kingdom. M. Paul Moraud. Minister Plenipotentiary, has been apjKiinted to this pot«t. The British (iovernment will appoint ail agent to the French (iovernment. and it has been agreed that these aeents will have diplomatic immunities and privileges. The French Charge d'Affaires has taken leave of the Foreign Office after presenting M. Morand t<» Lord Halifax, Foreign Secretary. The staff of ihe French Embassy and most of the French missions in L<mdon \vi:l shortly leave for France. (In Monday the French Charged' Affaires made the request on l>eha!f of his (iovernment for reparation in respect to the damage suffered by French naval units in the course of tlw operations i which the Royal Navy was compelled to take when the French commander- | declined t*i accept alternative proposals j for preventing their ships lieing taken ' over by the enemy.
