SOLDIERS' TESTAMENTS.

The suggestion of your correspondent, X. G. Smith, that a type of elementary Bible commentary should be distributed with the New Testaments to the troops is worthy of consideration. However, a greater understanding of the teachings of the New Testament can without delay he brought to the increasing number of readers by giving them copies of a translation into modern language. The old phrasing holds dignity and inspiration to an older generation used to it, but it? a foreign language to all that axe unused to reading or hearing the Scriptures. There is a wonderful clarity in the translation both by Moffat and Weymouth. The translations are accepted by ministers and Bible teachers, and copies of a convenient size can be had. I would strongly urge all wishing to give their soldier relatives a Testament to let it be one of these translations. M.V.JL
