A SUGGESTION.

It is gratifying to see that many Xew Testaments are beln.q- distributed to oiir fighting forces. Wo know that the regular muling of God's Word will 'be a source of strength and comfort to our men if they take the opportunity. I have (been wondering, however, if soma sort of handbook to act as an element* ary "Bible commentary" conic! he prepared and distributed along with the Testaments, for although we are a Christian nation, the Bible lias long heeu neglected *by many who are only now ibeginning to read it, and without knowledge and explanation of the. doctrines of orthodox Christianity it is pos* siblo to take some of our Lord's sayings as advocating such pernicious doctrines as pacifism—"Even the Devil can cite Scripture for his purpose." I understand that churches in England finding a similar need have taken measures to quell the doubts- of those who had difficulty in reconciling their Christianity with war. and I feel that some such suggestion as mine would he a help, for I have been surprised to find personally eases of doubt, and when one reads the timely warnings of Br. Inkster and finds that pacifists from all over New Zealand, and even from Australia, have the. temerity to hold a conference in, Auckland, one wonders when this country is really going to join in the battle against the anti-Christ rampant at our prates.
