FOR COLD DAYS.

This fig and raisin pudding is both delicious and nourishing. The ingredients are:—3oz flour. 3oz breadcrumbs, 2oz figs, i-tcaspoonful baking soda, pinch of salt, Hoz sugar, 3oz shredded suet, loz raisins, 1 egg, milk, grating of lemon rind. Mix suet with flour and other dry ingredients. Cut the figs finely and add with beaten egg and enough milk to make a soft consistency. Grease a bowl and fill three quarters full with the mixture and steam for two hours.
