PROPOSAL AT KAURI.

Residents of Kauri plan the purchase ] of a bomber for presentation to the British Forces. It is further planned, according to Mr. W. J. Bell, of Kauri, that a pilot from the district should fly the machine. As a result of a stock drive in the Hikurangi riding, the sale of donated cattle yesterday realised £161 1/, bringing the district fluids in hand or promised to approximately £250. This, it is believed, could be, ueed to form the nucleus of a fund for the purchase of a bomber. The view is also held that each district in New Zealand could start similar funds, each 'plane donated to be flown by a pilot from each par- . ticular district.
