THE CAR OWNER.

We all wish to help in the Dominion's war effort, -but I cannot help voicing a protest against the unfair treatment of the "private" car owner. To-dav my ration for benzine was reduced by "three gallons. Yet on June 1 the registration cost me the same as the previous year. The third-party insurance companies reap a harvest from thi*, because the motorist ean only use his ear to a email degree, consequently the risk ie. greatly reduced. I do not hear of any refund from this source. Then a percentage of the registration goes for the upkeep of roads. Surely I am not wearing out any roads on one gallon a week? Why was I like thousands of others allowed to pay £.3 13/ for a year's registration then after the "cash-in "* told that I must do on a gallon a week. Surely a slight modification in the yearly fee would have created a better*feeling all round. Yesterday I saw a well known flying ■boat circling overhead using up m an hour all the benzine that we could save in six months. I think the authorities could go a. long way to review the position. VAUXHALL.
