INTERESTING INNOVATION.
FUTURE GAMES AT SHOWGROUNDS
Meesre. R. B. Hardy (Mount Albert) and A. M. Nicholson (Auckland), the secondary school*' delegate*, made a proposal to last night's meeting of the Auckland Rugby Football Union that, starting from July 13, senior championship matches be played at the Epeom. Thie arrangement applied aleo to "College Day" itself, which will be held this year at Kpeom on July 20, when the two leading teams at the end of the firet round, Takapuna (unbeaten) and Sacred Heart (1939 champions) will meet again.
The main object of thie new departure from playing on the varloue college grounds is to nssiHt the union's finance**, Hβ large crowds have been witnessing matches. The chairman, Mr. A. A. Baker, said It ■was a wonderful gesture on the part of the jchoolg, and was all the more appreciated because the union wae aware of the value placed by headmenters on having matches played on the school grounds. It vns decided that the offer of the Secondary School* , Union be accepted with appreciation, and that a letter of thank* •mould be sent to the headmasters.
