TEMPERANCE WORK.
EXECUTIVE MEETING.
MANY ACTIVITIES.
The monthly meeting of the Auckland district executive of the Women's Christian Temperance Union was held in the temperance room, Queen Street, on Monday. The district vice-president, Mrs. F. W. Mountjoy, presided.
A report of the all-flay prayer meeting for peace was given "bv M'iss Read. The report of work done at the "Altar of Sacrifice"' for the Sick. Wounded and Distress Fund wa-s ;;iven bv Mrs. Brewer. The report of "the supper provided by the executive for St. Matthew's Welcome Club for the soldiers, sailors and air men on week-end leave was ?iven by Mrs. Holme*, and the report* of Mrs. farewell party and of the National Council of Wonien were given by Mrs. Joiner.
The following committee was appointed for the temperance demonstration to be held later in the vear:—District officers: Mrs. Holmes. S'ister Jessie and Miss J. Cowan.
It was stated that meetinpe had been held by the following branches: Auckland, Mount Eden. Otahuhu, Onehunga. Devonftort, Ponsonby.
