POSTED MISSING.

PILOT-OFFICER J. R. CRONAN. Cabled advice hae been received by Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Cronan, of Onewa Road, Birkenhead, that their only son, Pi lot-Officer John Richard Cronan, has been posted as missing as the result of air operations. Pilot-Officer Cronan, who is 21 years of age, was born at Simla, India, and came to New Zealand in 1031. He attended the Korthcote District High School, where lie passed the matriculation examination. On leaving echool he entered the office of Winstone. Limited, where he was engaged until his departure in January. 1939, for training in the Royal Air Force in England.

He took an active pert in all sports and was a member of the -North Shore Association senior team, which won the 1938 championship.
