BELIEVED KILLED.

NORTH AUCKLAND PILOT. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. Cabled advice received to-day states that Pilot-Officer D. Johnston, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Johnston, of Waima, Hokianga, has been missing since June 18 and is believed killed. Educated at the Whangarei High School, Pilot - Officer Johnston entered the Lands and Deeds Office, Wellington, and in 1938 took a short-term commission- with the R.A.F. Recent letters received from ■ hin: dealt with flights he had made over Germany and France. Both his parents live at Waima, where his mother ha> charge of the native school. Mr. Johnston has retired from the teaching profession. Mrs. W. F. Berry, of Whangarei, and Miss F. Johnston, of the Otauf. Native School, are si&ters!
