The free accident and insurance cover offered to registered readers of the "Auckland Star" is to-day renewed for its 14th year. The scheme covers a wide rango of accidents, benefits ranging from as high as £4000 down to £.5. Hundreds of payments have been made in the last 13 years, and the benefits are again offered to all registered readers, the latter being automatically covered. Readers who have not regfeterec. are advised to fill in the registration form printed in this issue. Despite the efforts of the authorities to minimise the danger of accidents in the Dominion mishaps of all kinds continue to take their toll of human life and happiness. Much needless suffering can be averted by providing sure safeguard for the well being of dependents. This can be ensured at the least possible expense ly taking advantage of the "Star" scheme. The range of benefits is illustrated by the fact that the sum of £2000 is payable if the reader should be killed in a railway accident, £1000 if death should result through the wrecking of any passenger steamer, and a similar sum through a fatal accident in a lift. Provision is made for drowning, injuries, fatal or otherwise, at sport, or those suffered in fire and traffic accidents. Headers are covered for all injuries occurring at home, payments being made for even minor injuries such as fractured limbs. Children of registered readers over the age. of six and under the age of 17 are provided for *if the accident does not occur during employment. Beneficiaries tinder the scheme are assured of prompt payment through the. Prudential Assurance Company, the Empire's largest assurance organisation, with assets in excess of £350,000,000.
