SCHOOL EFFORT.
MONEY FOR WAR.
GIRLS' WORKING GROUPS. A splendid war effort ie being made by the pupils of the Auckland Girls' Grammar School. A special collection is being taken up weekly, the eume so far averaging aboift £4 each week, and this will be continued for the duration of the war. An additional activity is also held weekly for the purpose of raising money. A fortnight ago it wae a bottle drive, last week paper and wiring were collected for soldiere' parcels, and this week the. third forms have raised a good sum by selling dishee they have cooked. All the money collected is sent to the Auckland Metropolitan Patriotic Committee.
Girls are also busy sewing and knitting, working groups being lie.ld after school on two afternoons each week for instruction and help. Clothes for refugee children are being made, materials
having been kindly supplied by the Old Girle' Aeeociation, and wool for socks, mittens and balaclavas has been supplied by the staff and school funds. Several dozen huesife are being made for the soldiers and each form is making a patchwork quilt to be sent to the Red Grose depot.
