President Approves Of Increase In Armed Forces. FRIENDLY U.S. ATTITUDE. (Received 11 a.m.) MEXICO CITY, June 20. It is reliably stated that the President, General Cardenas, has approved of quadrupling the armed forces, including the purchase of six United States destroyers. He added that the United States was making available credits for this, exceeding 10,000,000 dollars. The United States Under-Secretary of State, Mr. Sumner Welles, said the United States would consider in a friendly manner a request from Mexico for credits and other assistance for defence, but he had no information at present of such a request, says a Washington message.
