Archbishop Averill has returned to Auckland from Paihia. Professor E. Seagar and Mrs. Seagar, of London, are visiting Auckland. Mr. W. H. Cocker, president of Auckland University College Council, left this morning by air for Wellington. Dr. M. H. Watt, Director-General of Health, who has been transacting departmental business in Auckland, has returned to Wellington. Mr. Ronald Syme, a former New Zealand Rhodes Scholar, has been appointed attaehe-in-charge for the Ministry of Information at the British Legation, Belgrade. Mr. Syme recently made a tour of the Balkan countries on behalf of the Foreign Office. The Hon. E. R. Davis, ILLC, returned from Wellington by train to-day. Messrs. W. T. Anderton and W. P. Endean, M.P.6, arrived from Wellington 'by the Limited express this morning. Mr. H. J. Langrish, who has been stationmaster at Xewmarket for the past eight years, has retired after 40 years' service with the Railway Department. Major S. M. SatterthwaKe, New Zealand Staff Corps, relinquishes the post of commandant of the southern military district school of instruction at Burnham on being seconded for duty with the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force, according to a Gazette notice. Captain R. J. Eyre, New Zealand Staff Corps, succeeds him as commandant.
