ARE THEY JUSTIFIED? BUILDINGS IN AUCKLAND. MARKETING AND RADIO. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day.' The passing of the Imprest Supply. Bill for £10,~>0Q,000 gave tho Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Hamilton, in the House of Representatives to-night the opportunity to raise tho question of public .-works expenditure. He particularly instanced the proposal to spend £100,000 on tho new ibuilding for tho Internal Marketing Department da Auckland, asking if this -was really' needed during the -war. There was also the broadcasting building in Auckland, -which should come under review. Tho Minister of Finance, Mr. Nnsfh, replied that-anyone who knew the conditions of tho Internal Marketing Department in Auckland would agree with tho new building, as activities were now spread over four separate points, making j management almost impossible so far as accounting was concerned. . Mr. W. .T. Broadfoot (Opposition, Waitomo): We want to will the war. Mr. Nash: We will do it better •■because we have that ibuilding. It would provides for apples, pears and lemon marketing and packing, he added. If materials were available men should bo employed, as they all could not go into tho Army. Tho Minister of Public Works, Mr. Scmplc, said tho .military had just given him another big job, as Burhha.ni, Trentham and Faipakura caimps, built for 2000 men each, were now required to provide a-ccommodation for 2500 men each.
