REDUCED EARNINGS.
VENDERS' PROTEST. MILK ZONING SCHEME. Rumours that there is a possibility of interruption in the smooth working of the winter delivery of milk in zoned areas if the proposals of the Auckland Metropolitan Milk Council are put into force this month were referred to Mr. J. Haslam, president of the Milk Vendors* Association this morning. Mr. Haslam, who is also a member of the Milk Council, said the vendors definitely did not intend to accept the proposals for winter delivery, which meant a reduction of 20 per cent in their earnings. "The vendors at their last meeting passed a resolution protesting against the proposals and forwarded the protest to the Price Investigation Tribunal, asking the latter to fix the retail price of winter delivery," said Mr. Haslam. "No reply has been received. I think the public should know that the Milk Council's proposals will mean.a reduction of £2 a week to a vendor with a 36 gallons delivery. No vendor could stand ithat."
