FARMERS , FINE EFFORT.
(By Telegraph.—Own Cor respondent.) WAIHI, this day. The queen carnival in aid of the Sick and Wounded Soldiers' Fund terminated last night with a ball in the King's Hall, which was very largely attended. A total of £2729 was raised by this effort, which supports the Queen of the East. The local competition resulted: Far- i mers' Queen, Miss Edna Torrens, £820 17/9; Business Queen, Mrs. L. R. Hetlieringlon, £000 18/4; Miners' Queen, Miss (i. Barlow, £443 4/9; Sports Queen, Miss M. SjK-arinjr, £372 1/2; Waikino Queen, MKs E. Lithgow, £232; and Wailii Beach Queen, Mrs. Walters, £203 5/2. j The Coronation ceremony will be held at a later date. Other moneys, including j the net receipts of the ball, have yet I , to be credited to the fund. 1
