ACTOR'S DEATH.
AUCKLAND ASSOCIATIONS.

HOLLYWOOD, June 18.
A leading figure on the stage, Maurich Moscovitch, has died at the age of 78. He was an actor of unusual ability and appeared in a wide variety of roles, including performances in motion pictures. About 12 years ago he visited New Zealand, and while in Auckland attracted large audiences.
Born in Odessa, Russia, he made his first appearance on the stage of the National Theatre, Odessa, in 1885, and spent many years touring European countries. His first appearance in Xew York was in 1893, as Samson in "Samson and Delilah," and afterwards his company toured many countries. H« appeared in London in 1908.
While in Auckland he played parts in several Edgar Wallace drama-s. Of recent years he has taken supporting parts in films, including "Lancer Spy and "Suez."
His son, Noel ("Nat"), Madison, whe is also an actor, and toured New Zealand with him, married Miss * Joycfc Nathan, of Auckland.
