Public notice is hereby given that in pursuance of its powers under Sections 77 to 06, inclusive, of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1033, Sees. 51 to 55 inclusive of the Rating Act, 11)25. Sec. 52 of the Hospital and Charitable Institutions Act. V.y.":, and all other powers it thereunto enabliug, the New Lynn Borough Council intends on MONDAY, July 8, 1040, to make an.l levy the following rates for the year commencing on the Ist day of April, 1940, aind ending on the 31st March, 1941, namely:— I.—A CONSOLIDATED RATE of Two Shillings and Ten Pence in the £ upon the rateable value (on the basis of unimproved value) of all rateable properties appearing on the Valuation Roll for the time being of the Borough of New Lynn, in lieu of the following rates, over the Town Board area:— General Rate of lid in the £. Hospital Kate of 2d and :J-32nde of a Id in the f. Lighting Kate of Id in the f. War Memorial Museum Rate of 7-3'2nds of Id in the £. Conversion Loan No. 1 Rate of One Shilling and Sevenpence and 16-32nds of Id in the f. Conversion Loan No. 2 Rate of 7 32nds of Id in the £. 2—A CONSOLIDATED RATE of One Shilling and Flvepeuce in the £ upi.ii the rateable value (on the basis of Unimproved Value) of all rateable properties appearing on the Valuation Roll for the time being of the Borough of New Lynn in lieu of the following rates, over the Kelston area:— General Rate of lid in the £. Hospital Rate of 2d and 2-32nds of a Id in the £. Lighting Rate of Id in the £. War Memorial Museum Rate of 7-32nde of a Id in the £. Conversion Loan No. 2 Rate of 7-32nds of a Id in the £. Annual Loan Charges Rate of 2d and 16-:s2nds of a Id in the £. 3.—WATER RATES.—Upon all lands and buildings to which water ie supplied by meter for ordinary supply a rate equivalent to 1/9 (One shilling and ninepence) per thousand gallons used, but such rate to be not less than £1 10/ per annum, for a minimum supply of 17,000 gallons. The charges for water by meter to be payable in two half-yearly, instalment* upon the First day of April and the First day of October respectively. Upon all land and buildings to which water can be but Is not supplied, situated within one hundred yards from any part of the waterworks, a rate of Id in the £ upon the rateable value (on the basis of Unimproved Value) of ail rateable property with a minimum charge of 5/.

AH tbe foregoing rates (except water by meter) to be payable on the 29th day of JULY, 1940, to Butters, the Council's Collector, or to such other person as may be appointed to collect the same, at the Council Chainbers, Great North Road, New Lynn. The estimates upon which the foregoing rates are being struck are, together with the Valuation Koll. open to inspection during office hours at the above address. REBATE ON RATES.—Pursuant to Sec. 04 of the Rating Act, 1925, a rebate of 2J per centum will be allowed on all rates with the exception of water measured by meter, that are paid on or before AUGUST 2s, 1940. PENALTY.—Pursuant to Sec. 76 of the Rating Act. 1925, 10 per centum penalty will be added to all of the above rates, with the exception of water measured by meter, which are not paid on or before FEiBIRUARY 12, 1941.
