Takapuna Wedding.

PEARL SATIN GOWN.

HOWDEN—HOYLES.

Tfce wedding took place at St. Peter's Church, Takapuna, this afternoon, of Miss Elizabeth Hoyles, of Invercargill, and Second Lieutenant lan Howden, of Castor Bay. The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. le H. Hoylee, of Invercargill, and the bridegroom is the second son of the late Mr. Alister Howden and Mrs. Howden, of Castor Bay. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Hill Johnson. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a lovely gown of pearl satin. The gathered bodice formed a high neckline, closing at the back with a row of buttons to the waist, and long full sleeves, with tiny epaulettes at the shoulders, were caught in to the wrists. The skirt was made on fitting line_s, with fullness at the back to form a slight train. The bride's veil, which was a family heirloom over 200 years old, was of Brussels lace. It was fashioned to form an upstanding peak over the forehead, with an orchid caught to the centre. A bouquet of orchids was carried.

The bridesmaid, Miss Elizabeth Morrison, of Eemuera, wore a graceful frock of knife.-pleated ivory chiffon. The bodiee was made with a V neckline, finished with a silk velvet bow in the same pearl shade as that of the bride's gown, and it was drawn into a pointed band at the waistline, from which fell the knife-pleated skirt. A matching bolero with, puff sleeves and a Juliet cap worked in brilliants completed the ensemble, the bridesmaid carrying a bouquet of cyclamen - and maidenhair fern.

In attendance as Lest man was Private Charles Coop, and Messrs. Charles and James Howden, brothers of the bridegroom, acted as ushers. After the ceremony a reception was held at "Mon Desir," Takapuna, the bride's mother receiving her guests in a twilight blue gown and hat to match and a grey squirrel cape. She carried a bouquet of violets. Mrs. Howden wore a night blue costume and hat to match, and her bouquet was of pink heather and daphne.
