3380 BOWLERS AFFILIATED TO AUCKLAND.

The annual report of the Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Bowling Association, to be presented to delegates on June 25, states that last season with a total of 47 clubs, representing an aggregate membership of 3380, compared with 46 clubs and 3248 members for the previous season, an increase of one club (Waimauku) and 132 members. Tor tfce inter-club pennant competition entries were received from 38 clubs, representing 384 fours, thus 1534 players were taking part in each round of the competition. These figures show that 73.2 per cent of the average Saturday afternoon attendance of members of clubs, as supplied, were provided with a game in the pennant competition for at least five Saturday afternoon* during the season. As usual the competition was played in two sections, bat unfortunately, owing to Inclement weather the preliminary rounds were unable to be concluded before the Christmas . holidays as scheduled, thus causing the final game to be played rather late in the season. Section A was won by Te Papapa Club with « quota of four fours, and section B by Glen Eden, alSo with a, quota of four fours. The final was played on the Mount Eden greed, and resulted lit Glen Eden carrying off the honours by three gamee t* one. Unique Performance. The", annual tournament of the New Zealand Bowling Association was held in Wellington during January, and was classified as a Centennial event. Auckland Centre was well represented, the entries for the various events - being: Singles 34, paire 25, fours 13. Heartiest congratulations are extended to G. A. Deare, of Carlton, winner of. the singles, to L>. G. Donaldson and W. Bremner, of West End, winners of the pairs, and to Wi Whlttaker, J. W. T. Macklow, H. A. Robertson and F. Livingstone, of Onehunga, winners of the fours. It is worthy to note that this is the first time on record that all.events have been won by a Centre when playing away from home.
