TAKE OWN BASKET.

SAVING WRAPPING PAPER. REQUEST TO HOUSEWIVES. At the present time there is a definite shortage of wrapping paper and, according to a communication before the Auckland Chamber of Commerce to-day, the shortage will become more acute, as supplies from Scandinavia are meantime cut off. It was stated that there was a certain quantity manufactured in New Zealand, but not nearly sufficient to meet requirements. Nothing like adequate supplies could lie obtained. One method in which economy could be obtained would be by housewives taking their own baskets for goods, a* was at present being done in (ireat Britain and was practised during the last war. It win also pointed out that solder could be made from old joints instead of being wasted as at present. Recently supplies of solder became short with the shortage of tin.
