CAMPAIGNS BEGINNING. i REVISION OF ROLLS STARTED. Public meetings, dv most of the six candidates in the Auckland West byelection, tx» be held on Saturday, May 18, are being held in various places in the electorate. It has been announced that the Prime Minister, the Hon. P. Eraser, will visit Auckland early next week and officially open the campaign of the Labour candidate. Air. Peter fair. Mr. Eraser will speak at the Franklin Road Hall on Monday night. In the meantime, the returning officer. Mr. C. H. Butcher, and his staff are engaged in the customary purge of the electoral rolls of Auckland West. The roll closed on Monday last, and now names of persons who have left the district must be struck out and the names of newcomers added to a supplementary list. It is thought that approximately the same number of voters as in the 103S ckflttai will be taking part.
