TIN PRODUCTION.

FIRST SIX MONTHS OF WAR. SHARP RISK SHOWN. (From Our Own Correspondent.) LONDON, April 2. Work* tin production during the first six months ot the war was more than double ot the preceding six months. World consumption increased by 31 per cent. Production totalled 128,200 tons, compared with 61,100 tons in the earlier t period. The figure includes 15,700 tons in January and 16,000 <\ons ill February. Exports from the seven signatory countries, according to the International Tin Research and Development Council, were 13,509 tons in January and 13,873 tons in February. At the end of February the position" showed a total under-export of 15,280 tons. The deliveries of the principal tin smeltery amounted to 19,968 tons in January and 14,157 tons in February, making a total of 97,454 tons for the. first six months of the war, as compared with 65.724 tons in the preceding six months. World apparent tin consumption is estimated at 22.600 tons in January and 18,100 tons in February. The total for the first six months of the war amounted to 104,800 tons, compared with 80,000 tons in the preceding six months. During the first six months of the war the visible supply increased by 3530 tons to 23,865 tons, the smelters' stocks (including the carry-over) increased by 9387 tons to 23,660 tons. There consequently, an increase in the total .stocks of 12,917 tons to 47,525 tons. The average cash price for standard tin in London was £243 a ton in February and £237 during the first six months of the war, compared with £225 in the preceding six months. The average cash price for Straits tin in New York was 46 cents a lb in February and 52 cents for the six months, as compared with 48 cents in the preceding six months.
