CHECK CAUSED BY WAR. AUCKLAND EXECUTIVE REPORT. Regret that through circiwnstances beyond its control its plans for the estail> lishineut of the projected statistical research bureau at the Auckland Hospital had not been realised, was expressed in the report of the executive presented at the annual meeting of the Auckland division of the Xew Zealand branch of the British Empire Cancer Campaign Societj yesterday.
Tiic appointment of Dr. Howard Guild in, as a temporary measure, as registrar to the consultation committee of the division was also icpoitcd. the undei standing ■being that he would undeitake part-time researches pending the creation of the bureau a'.tei the war. Dr. O.iudin would also act as secietarv to the division in the absence overseas ot Mr. Donald MeKen/ie. It was also pointed out in the report that, in thus postponing what might be termed detail woi k in favour of lending whole-hearted support to various patriotic efforts, the division nieieh followed the lead of the parent body in England, which had decided to suspend its main activities for the duration of the war. The balance-sheet revealed a credit balance of £ti3B. Assets, comprising debentures and cash on deposit, were shown at £3338. In addition to this the sum of £1650. raised as the result of the street collection, was 'being held in a special account. The following officers were elected: — President, Sir Ernest Davis; vice-tpresi-dent, Mrs. Kenneth Gordon; honorary secretaiy. Dr. Howard Gaudin; honorary treasurer. Mr. D. F. Macky; committee, ]>rs. W. Gilmour, Bruce Mackenzie and H. W. Wilson and Messrs. Alan Murray, Douglas Robb and Kenneth Mackenzie; co-opted members of committee. Mrs. M. M. Dreaver. Drs. Russell Nolan and W. Main. Messrs. Allan .1. Moody, I). F. Maekay. and the Mayors of Whangaiei. Hamilton and Rotorua: honorary solicitor. Mr. C'. -T. Tunks: honorary auditor. Mr. X. A. Duthie: medical committee. T>rs. Gilmour. Robert Wilson. Bruce Mackenzie and Xolan and Messrs. Keuneth Mackenzie and Douglas Rrtlvb; finance committee. Mrs. Gordon. Dr. Bruce Mackenzie and Mr. D. F.
