PROBATION GRANTED. "This young man endeavoured to *ret a job 011 a boat in Sydney, but \vr> unsuccessful. He then stowed away o;. the Niagara, thinking that when he »* - discovered on board a job would l.<found for him," said Senior-Sergeaiu Joyce in the Police Court this morning when John Brewster Beanland, aged IT, pleaded guilty to stowing away on the Xiagara on April 10. The senior-eer-geant added that the accused was a farm hand Mr. J. Morling, SJXL, Mid be did not -want to send accused to prison and would give him a chance. He would be admitted to probation for one year, and ordered to pay the fare from Sydney £8 10/.
