N.Z.M.R. BRIGADE
Correspondents' Views. "H.G.P.," Papatoetoe, writes—Just a line to express my pleasure on reading "Trooper's" remarks re the N.Z.M.R. Brigade. It reminded your readers that there once existed a body of soldiers known as the New Zealand Mounted Brigade, which has .now been forgotten by the people of their country whom they served in the Great War. One does not want to "skite" about one's own particular branch of the service, but when their every existence is ignored it is onlv natural that one should feel the injustice, not only to those men who served their country in Palestine and returned, but to those «ood cobbers who gave their all for the great cause. As IjOWcII Thomas, the American war correspondent, said while lecturing in Auckland: "It astonishes me how' little you people in New Zealand know of the magnificent work of your own soldiers in Palestine. It seems all wrong to have to hear this from the lips of a Yankee." Thanking you for the resurrection. Many thanks for your kind letter re N.Z.M.U. Brigade. With you I most certainly hoj>e the general public, and especially public speakers, will remember what this brigade accomplished in Sinai and Palestine. That an American, Lowell Thomas, saw lit to reproach his audiences in New Zealand on the. subject some time ago indicates how far knowledge of the brigades work has spread outside J^JJ™*"*
