YORKSHIRE SOCIETY.
An enjoyable evening was spent when the members of the Yorkshire Society and their friends met in the Fabian Club rooms for their fortnightly social. In the absence of the president, Air. 11. G. Staley, the guests were welcomed by Airs. Stiller, and one of the vice-presi-dents, Air.' 11. Caton.
The programme consisted of cards and dancing interspersed with vocal items by Mr. H. McKenna. During the supper interval Sergeant A. H. Varlan, one of the society's members, who will shortly be leaving Xew Zealand with the second echelon, was presented with a cigarette case, and Mrs. Varian was asked to present prizes to the following: Cards, Mr. A. Knapton and Mrs. D. DykesMonte Carlo, Mr. E. D. Gregory and"MisA J. Midgley; lucky number," Mrs. D. Ashworth.
