HYDRO-ELECTRIC SCHEME.
GOVERNMENT'S OFFER. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) XELSOX, this day. The Government has agreed to take over the Cobb River hydro-electric scheme, which is to supply" the Xelson district with electricity if the offer it has made to the Hume (Cobb River) Company is accepted. This decision was announced bv the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. R. Semple, to delegates from interested local bodies this morning. The Minister said Mr. J. Wood, engineer in chief of the Public Works Department, considered it would probably be about two years before the Cobb scheme could be completed.
