Bowlers competing in the New Zealand rinks championship to-day had to contend with a northerly wind, with gusts of halfgale force. As a result, the standard of play suft'ereil. J Section play in the rinks will occupy four days, two games of 2o ends being iplayed each day. Poet-section play will be on the automatic two-life system. Entries total 172. H. Franks, J. F. Benson and W. C. I?ranks (Balmoral, Auckland) are not defending their title, but skips of previous champion rinks who are competing this year are R. Haworth (Canterbury), H. C.
