WOMEN'S DIVISION.

Karalca.—At the meeting of the Karnka branch held on January 0, which was presided over by the president, Mrs. A. W. Howie, an enjoyable travel talk was given 'by Dr. Cummings, of Dunedin. Mrs. E. A. Urquhart spoke of the work of the Patriotic Association, and asked for volunteers to knit sox and gloves for soldiers. A presentation of a crystal howl and servers was made to Miss Myrtle Costar, an active worker in the Inanch since its inception, who is to be married shortly. Musical items by Miss Charles and the Misses B. and A. Stubba were much appreciated, and a social competition was won by Miss Costar. Prize winners for the monthly competitions were:—Design for banner: Mrs. W. Higham 1. Mrs. Howie 2. Gooseberry jam: Mrs. M. A. Costar 1, Mrs. Hobill 2. Best bloom: Mrs. M. A. Costar 1, Mrs. Bryant and Mrs. Wood 2.
