MOTOR CYCLE RACES.

ATTRACTION AT WESTERN SPRINGS. The midget ear and motor cycle racing sesuson opened at Western Springs Stadium on Saturday night before an attendance of over 5000. The main event of the evening, a midget ear race over 12 laps, attracted 10 entrants, and was noteworthy for a splendid performance by J. Mathieson in an exceptionally cloee finish. F. Brewer was successful in the Valentine Cup and the Butcher Cup, while I. Brewer, who was making his first appearance on the track, was second to hie brother in both heat and final of the latter race. There were 6ome thrilling contests between A. Mattson and C. Buchanan-in the motor-cycle events, the former showing superior cornering to win by a very narrow margin in both races.
