GERMAN PASTORS.
ESCAPE FROM NAZIS. NIEMOLLER'S CURATE IN ENGLAND. (Special.—By Air Mall.) LONDON, December 2. It was revealed this week that among the 20 German pastors who escaped from Germany last year when religious persecution was intensified by the Nazis is a former curate to Pastor Niemioller, who is still in a German concentration camp. These pastors have been taught English and are hoping to obtain posts in the Anglican or Presbyterian Churches. The Rev. W. W. Simpson, general secretary of the Christian Council for Refugees from Germany and Central Europe explained that the German pastors are at present being supported by the council. They are in homes in various parts of England and are giving their services wherever possible. "Most of the pastors belong to the German Confessional Church. They have their various groups in Germany as we have here. Some of the groups resemble the Presbyterian Church in their form of worship. One of the pastors lias been lecturing at a number of English colleges and has been on the staff of one of the Anglican theological colleges. He was ftistor Niemoller's curate at one time. "Some are hoping to be ordained in the Church of England, and others wish to become missionaries, but the war has put a stop to the sending abroad of [missionaries."
