TOSH GOES FAST.

FIVE FURLONGS IN 1.1 1-5. WOKK AT TE RAPA. (By Telegraph— Speclul to "Star.") HAMILTON, this day. The going was in excellent order 60ft out from the rails on the course proper at Te Rapa this morning, while that on the No. 1 grass, which was open for horses engaged on the Taranaki circuit was also in good condition, and conducive to fast times. Ihe best efforts of the morning were those of Ngawiri and Orwere over rive furlongs and Racecamp over a round, while on the inner grass Tosh drew attention to his holiday prospects by running five furlongs in 1.1 1-5. A thick fog delayed operations, but when it cleared, conditions generally were pleasant. The Course Proper. Poland (Ramsay) and Mio Fratollo ( knsorj wpre associated over a round, running their first half mile in 54s and the full distance in 2.5. Both were travelling well within themselves throughout and were sticking on in solid style over the concluding stages. The two-year-old Marshall Hall (Mc-Renzie) brushed over three furlongs along the back in 365. He is coining to hand well. Beau Repaire (Hall) assisted over the first seven furlongs by l'oxsen and Meadow in 1.32, and joined by Olympus (McKenzie) at the three furlong peg ran once round in 2.4, the Inst seven furlongs occupying 1.27. l'oxsen is bearing a healthy appearance, while both Beau Repaire and Olympus are in forward condition for holiday engagements. Wyndora (Ensqr) and Starbright (Gollorp) were associate*! over six furlongs in 1.19, a useful effort for horses of their class. Wyndora appears to have benefited from racing ait Te Awamutu and may soon make amends for recent

disappointments, 'gunny Downs and Alio Generate ran six furlongs in 1.21/ A solid effort was credited to Kacecamp (Gollop), who finished clear of Mio Lume (Winder) at the completion of a round in 2.3. Racecamp, who will be racing at New Plymount next week, is in great order for engagements ahead and may soon make amends for his narrow defeat at the recent Waipa meeting.

The best effort o>f the morning on the course proper was that of the improving Ngowin (Ens or), who was shading Orwere (McKenzie) at the completion of five furlongs in 1.4 3-5, the first/half mile in 51 l-ss. Ngawiri and Orwere ' are both in good fettle for holiday engagements and the former should not be long ,in reopening her winning account. Raceline (Meynell) ran three furlongs, going from the three to the six in 38s.

No. : I Grass. Tosh (Thomson)- hit out brilliantly over five furlongs in 1.1 1-5. He is in forward condition' lor- racing, at New Plymouth, where on the first day he is to contest the Flying Handicap. «.

Bronze Step (Thomson), assisted over the last' half' mile .by Herbage (O. McI milly) traversed seven furlongs in 1.30. Bronze Step has made good progress of Jate and it will not" be <m the score of condition if she foils to show to advantage on the Taranaki circuit. •

Aintree (Muir) gave a dashing displayover ' four hurdles, -while Flashing Spear (Atnunsden) in a similar essay, shaped well fo» a novice.
