There was little between tthem, but Silver Quex impressed most. Baran (Howell) had Moorsotia (A. C. Mecwervy) as a companion over a mile. running tile distance in 1.45 2-5. The first four furlongs took s ls, and Baran was in- front at the end. Aero Queen ran half a mile in 52 4-.55, and Bide-a-Wee (Kerr) was holding Royal Son (Gammell) after traversing six luTlontfs in .1.23 2-5. Pern (Wiggins) was sont a inile and a half, which he completed In 2.44 3-5. He ran the last mile and a quarter in 2.18, and the liniiil round in 2.7 4-5. Aftor running their first three furlongs in 40 l-ss, Palmiiu (Pell) finished clear of Hot Shot (Dowt'ick) aV the conclusion of six furlongs in 1.21 1-5. Indian Sun (Owles) was, going very freely while traveling the last half-mile of his work in 52 2-os. Thia hock should show up in iiis engagements at the meeting. Bronze Emerald (A. C. Messervy) and Lady Acushla (Tretmain) were timed to run five furlongs in 1.6 2-5, Lady Acushla. showing to most advantage. Beeswing (Kerr) was not hurried throughout six furlongs in 1.23 1-5. The Railway Handicap candidate Disdain worked in great style over five furlongs, #hi6h sihe covercd in 1.3 4-5, the last half-milts in 49 2-ss. She finished full of running. ■ Daria (A. C. Messervy) had Spartan as a companion over five furlongs run in 1.5 1-5. Both these horses could have improved on Uhe time. Royal Appellant (Gemmcll) shaded Gay Broney (McsseTvy) at the end of seven furlongs in 1.33 2-5, their IrtsU half-mile befhg covered in 53 2-im. Mintlaw (M&rkwick) and Serenata (Howell) came home from the six-furlong post in 1.18 3-5, the final Uhree furlong* being completed in 30 2-Ss. It was a useful trial. Clarion Call (Cammick) did strong work, but was not doing much better than 15s to the furlong, and Paint (Dowvick) strode over six furlongs in 1.23 1-5. The two-year okls Cillas (Tremain), Orajjon (Wiggins) and Rich Blood (Briggs) were in that order after completing half a mile in 52 4-ss, Che lasi three furlongs taking 39 2-ss. Cillas was running on nicebr overthe last fm'long. Millament (Wiggins) finished up a useful task by running the final half-mile of her work in 50 l-ss. Dictate (Wilson) and Sly Fox (Briggs) ran a mile and a i|iui.rter in 2.17 2-5, the final round taking 2.7 2-5, The last seven furlongs took 1.35 2-5, and the final half'-mile 565. Dictate finished well and was holding Sly Fox at the end, though the latter covered a bit of extra ground. Without doing"their best at any part' of it, Catalogue (Ireland) and Beartirpartir (Wiggins) were timed to run a mile in 1.47. The lost six furlongs took 1.19 3-5, and the final half-mile 53 3-fis. They finished together and had something in reserve. Catalogue, in particular, did his trark in fine style.

On the Improve. Melvanui (JDo wrick) was clear of Spinning Wheel (A. C. Measervy) and Tea Gong . (Murray), witJh Every Port (Cameron) several lengtihß away at tffe finish of a mile in 1.40. Melvanui worked much better than he hjis done for some time, biit Every Pqrt lost ground at the start, and was never- afterwards able to make it up again. Phaleron (Wiggins) was doing bitter than Royal Message (Markwick) over four furlongs run in 1.4 1-5, the last three taking 395. Night Patrol (Dowrick) was well clear of Red • Warden nit tlhe end of four furlongs in 52 2-on. Over a similar distance Blonde Plrincem (Brings) recorded 49 4-ss. the last three furlongs taking 36 3-ss. This was one of the .best sprints of the morning. Royal Huntress (A. C. Messervy) ran the last six furlongs of her work in 1.33 1-5, being assisted over the last five by > Auburn Lad (Cameron), the latter distance taking 1.7 3-5. The best half-mile of the morning was that of Queen City (Wiggins) and To Kawiti (Cameron), who nnimied in front of Jack Tar (Cammick) in 49 3-ss. Te Kawiti worked exceptionally well, though Queen City, who. was on the outside, impressed more. Pasture (Murray) cantered round to the threefurlong post and r%n home in 39 3-6s.

After Breakfast. Silver Stick (Farrell) ran his first furlong in 12 2-ss, and finished up four in flO 'l-ss. Mon Acre (A. C. Mcsservy) was too good for Whenna (Ryan) at the conclusion of, seven furlongs in 1.32 4-5, the first three taking 38 l-ss. Golden Bonnet (Markwick), Hnppicoat (A. C. Messervy) and Prudent (Farrell) flniched as named over five furlongs in 1.5. They ran the first two furlongs in 25 3-59, and Golden Bonnet was several lengths in front a furlong from the post, but Hnppicoat. had her measure at the conclusion of the gallop. Stratford (Challender) just shaded Nightbeam (Wiggins) over five furlongs, which they ran in 1.7. The Inst three furlongs took 40 3-58, and NiKhtbenm wai not unduly bustled. After running his first half-mile in 52 2-ss, Cintrace (McGrath) traversed a mile in 1.48 -a useful effort for this hurdler. Odtnn (A. C. Messervy) ran two furlongs in 2(ls, and finished well at the end o £ five in 1.5 3-5.

On the Tan. Stylist and Omnpo were worked separately over six furlongs, luit were not after time. Knight of Australia (Henrn) strode out freely over a round in 1.50 2-5. The Jumpers. To Bonga (T. Williams) was sent over ii couple of hurdles twice, clearing them (surely, - Kingxhot (Dowrick) just shaded Glen Alii) (Ritchie) at the finish of a school over tour hurdles run in-fast time.
