MORE GIRLS OFFERING.
EFFECT OF IMPORTS BAN.
Secretarial positions made vacant by the departure of numerous young men who are undergoing training in the military camps have been offset to some extent by the reduction of office staffs due to the effects of the import restrictions on local business firms.
Though there is a strong demand for girls and women for office work there are more applicants for the positions than there were some weeks ago. Competent iuniors are those most sought after It is significant that the ranks of the applicants for jobs have been swelled by the addition of girls who already hold positions with importing firms, but who are afraid that they ma y be discharged owing to slackness ot business.
Manufacturers, however, are on the lookout for competent girls or women | with all-round experience who arej capable of taking charge of the office | work. With the growth of secondary! industries it is expected that there will; be a sliarp increase in the demand. I
