LEAGUE OF MOTHERS.

Ponsonby.—The November meeting of the Ponsonby branch of the League of Mothers was held in the Leys Institute. Mrs. T. O. English presided. An enrolment service was '.veld, four new members being enrolled. The roll call was answered with household hints. A paper was read by Mrs. J. A. C. Allum, J.P., on "Children's Pocket Money and Should Money be Given for Work Done in the Home," also a paper by Mrs. Millar on "Smoking by Women, and its 111-effects on Young Mothers and Their Babies." Many members gave their views on these papers. The thought for the day was given by Mrs. Haley. Songs were rendered by Mrs. Scott, accompanied by Mrs. MoKinney and items by the league choir. Parcels of wool for knitting and linen for bandages for ambulance work were received from members.
