DAY OK COMMEMORATION

'".Revolutionary communism is a vital danger and there is no use in savins that it could not happen here—that was said in Spain, and all know what happened there," said the Rev. Dr. F. Terry, preaching at the annual commemoration Mass for the souls of deceased old boys and teachers of Sacred Heart College yesterday. Dr. Terry," who is an old boy of the school, has just returned from a course of three years' study at the Dublin University. The celebrant of the Mass was the Rev. Dr. R. Delarjrey, also a former pupil of the college, who has just returned from a course of three years' study at Dublin University. After the Mass the members of the Old Boys' Association were the guests of the brother director, the Rev. Bro. Borgia, and the staff of the college at breakfast. Among the guests were Mr. Justice O'Regan. Mr. Justice Callan, and Messrs. W. Mi-Hardy, A. Faire and H. Wright. Proposing the toast of the association, the Rev. Bro. Clemens said that next month three old boys were to be raised to the priesth oqd, one in Wellington and two in Auckland. During the past year four more boys had entered various seminaries to begin their studies for the priesthood, and there were two old boys in Rome studying for their doctorates. The retiring president, Mr. J. McD. Coleman, briefly replied. Mr. M. Flynn proposed the toast of the visitors and replies were made by the Rev. Dr. Terry, the Rev. Dr. Delargey, Mr. Justice Callan and Mr. Justice O'Regan. At the conclusion of the breakfast the annual meeting was held. A decision was made to form a Sacred Heart Old Boys' Auxiliary to assist the Marist Brothers in their activities and to provide a fund which could be drawn on by them in case of need. Officers for 1940 were elected as follow:— Patron, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Liston; vicepatrons, the Rev. Brother Provincial and the Rev. Brother Borgia; chaplain, the Rev. Dr. Buxton; president, Mr. R. McDonald; immediate past president, Mr. J. McD. Coleman; joint secretaries, the Rev. Brother Clemens and Mr. J. P. Mollo.v; treasurer, Mr. E. Kelly; auditor, Mr. F. Sweeney; executive committee. Dr. D. O'Brien and Messrs. J. Blake-Kelly, W. Hare, P. Hackett, D. Rennie, E. O'Dowd, D. Bailey, J. Carroll, P. Scholium, F. Cummings; junior members, Messrs. R. Ockleford and J. McCullough. Mr. John Molloy, 6en.. was unanimously elected a "life member of the association.
