lilon Connell, Huntii. The Dozer nnd rpllsoni lire ii likely i|iin.rt<?t in division, the last-named three running frond races at PaktirHtijru, while (}|en Connell Hum been galloping impressively «t Takanini. British Talent and Every Port are likHy improvers, while Silver Olow will lie suited by the distance. The most favoured may be: Hunto, Tlie Dozer.

Twenty.two figure in the Henderson Ha ndiea p. Mint In w, Sehrof and The trimmer have been working well at Ellwulie, while Npearford is a recent winner. Foxmond. Greek Queen and Royal Tray were useful two'-vear-olds, and Bronze Moth would 'only need to jump away smartly to have a show. Wyndora was a smart two-yenr-old, and ran a good race at Ellerslie last month. Milaiiion, Paxene and Bide-n-wee seem the l>est of the others. Sonio who may ap[*>al are: Wyndora, Sebrof, Royal Tray. The Avondale Cup should "be productive of a good contest. King Rey is a good stayer, while Xod Cuttle, Lowenberg and Tidewaiter are recent winners and look in good order. Jack Tar and Kena will relish the going, and Black Musk and The Cardinal have good form to their credit this season. Philcourt is a possibility. The principal selections may be: Tidewaiter, Lowenberg, Ned Cuttle.

The Avondale Stake* lias drawn a very large field of two-year-olds, but few of them have had a race. Beau Leon was unplaced in the Debutante Stakes at Wanganul, though after missing the jump-out he ran a good race. Local youngsters that have been showing speed are Kentucky. Merrymeer, Happicoat, Queen City, Lovaals and Stratford. The public may go for: Kentucky, Merrymeer. Happicoat. Some Smart Sprinters. Some smart sprinter* have been paid tip for in the Champion Plate. They include Hagen, Our Jean and Brazen Bold, all winners this season. Val Lu has won over the distance, and both Classic, Orelio and Wyndora were s|>eedy two-year-oldn last term. This also applies to Silver Stick, who has Iteen sprinting well at Ellerslie. Veritable and Erlick seem the best of the remainder. Most money may go on: Our Jean, Hagen, Brazen Bold.

The Flying* Handicap is the chief sprint eyent of the day, and the withdrawal of Aero King will obviate the running of it in divisions. Despite hi* weight Majority is not out of it. while Franciu Drake has been going attractively in hie work. Qrate, Royal Bachelor, Gold Vaals. Royevrtis and Kathbella have all won at Avondale, while Valimeen and Prince Acre both have plenty of pace. Bronwen, after her succees at the Pakuranga meeting, will not lack for support. Erndale worked well yesterday morning, as did Mai de Mer. Birthday Boy and To Monowal ran good races -at the Pa kuranga fixture, while Full Hand, La Vie and Namara are not without proapects. The favourite* may be: Bronwen, Royevrue, Kathbella.

The programme will conclude with the Swanson Handicap, and recent form point* to most support going to Right Royal, Gamoe, Valdene.

The acceptance* are:—

LATEST TRIALS

SOME USEFUL. EFFORTS. VISITORS IN ACTION. I he bulk of the track work at Avondale this morning was confined to visiting horses and chiefly over short distances. The course proper, 011 which the poles were out 55t't (lift loss than yesterday) was in use, but the going was heavy and cutting out badly.

Overnight arrivals were King Roy, Greek Quec;i, Gay Widow, Royal Dance, Crestinan, Foxtion, Foxmond, Golden. Sheila, May fair, • Lady Bambury, Gold V aals, Royal Musk, Little Ruse and Royal Bachelor.

I*oxtoon (Cameron) was (riven an easy six flu-longs, which took 1.23 2-3. He was going 011 nicely at the finish and handled the going in good style. Golden Sheila was timed to run the last five furlongs of her work in 1.11 2-5. She is engaged on the second day, but may need a race before she reaches her best. Foxmond (Cameron) showed a lot of speed while traversing five furlongs and was timed by a watch to run the distance in 1.7 2-5. The stablemates May fair (Brady) and Lady Bambury (Ramsay) ran three furlongs in 395. They did their work very 1 reply and appreciated the conditions. Gay Mimic (Forsyth) and The Cardinal (Evans) were given strong work over a round, being timed to run their last five furlongs in 1.12 4-5. (Jav Mimic finished clear of The Cardinal, but the latter was going very easily.

Kathbella (Campbell) sprinted the last three furlong* of her work in 3.%. This filly has worked well since her arrival, and is Hearing her best. Spearford (P. Fearn) was under restraint while running three furlongs in 44*. The Speardance gelding looks well, but would be better suited by firm going. Gold Vaals (Manson) was running on in good style at the conclusion of five furlongs in 1.10 2-3. He is to compete among the sprinters to-morrow, and it will be interesting to see how lie shapes. Royal Bachelor (Brady) came home from the three furlongs post in 38 4-ss. It was the best of the morning over the distance, and he finished full of dash. Gay Widow (Manson) came home from the three furlongs post in 41 4-os. She is a well-grown filly, and is reputed to possess plenty of speed. Wild Acre was timed to cover the last three furlongs- of his work in 42 4-ss. and was going well within himself throughout. The Gisborne two-year-old Kindergarten (Atkins) was going very smoothly while traversing three furlongs in 42 2-ss. Royal Musk. by Musketoon —Lady Mentor, trotted and cantered over a round, and his condition indicates that he has done a fair amount of work. Deanna Durbin (O. Evans) was given useful exercise, but was not asked to go fast. This filly, who won a division at the two-year-old parade at Ellerslie last month, will contest the Nursery Handicap on Moaday.

The Avondale Cup candidate. King Rey (Manson) was reeponsible for a (rood effort over half a mile, beating Little Ruse (Parsons) by several lengths in 53 2-ss. King Rey carried only slightly less than his Cup impont, and was on the bit at the finish. So far, no rider has been secured for him.

Another good effort was that of Greek Queen (Mansion), who finished clear of Orally (Goldfinch) over half a mile in similar time. Greek Queen handled the going in rare style, and the effort will ensure her support in the hack sprint to-morrow.

Aero Kins was withdrawn from the Flying Handicnp at 3.30 p.m. yesterday.
